If you’re looking to win over someone’s heart with a sweet treat this Valentine’s Day (Monday, 14 February), Mayver’s has put together a list of its most indulgent recipes that will leave peanut butter lovers truly smitten.
Cooking is Australia’s favourite love language and with 39% of single Aussies revealing that being able to cook is one of the top three most attractive traits within a partner, cooking has also been found to be one of the most effective ways to win someone over.
Leading dietitian and Mayver’s ambassador, Susie Burrell, says that couples who prepare and enjoy delicious meals together this Valentine’s Day have a good chance of experiencing a release of ‘happy hormones.
“Sharing a meal with someone you love, and connecting over the act of preparing a meal together, can boost oxytocin levels. Oxytocin, commonly known as the ‘love hormone’, can help promote feelings of trust, empathy, and bonding in relationships,” says Susie.
“Additionally, when we do something enjoyable, like eating a meal we love, our brain releases a chemical called dopamine, the ‘feel good’ hormone. So, cooking your partner’s favourite meal, either for them or with them, is bound to get you brownie points on Valentine’s Day.”
To charm the partner who loves peanut butter on the most romantic day of the year, Susie suggests getting creative in the kitchen by pairing the nutty spread with commonly known aphrodisiacs.
“Aphrodisiacs are foods that aim to stimulate the love senses, which include sight, smell, taste, and touch. It’s commonly thought that strawberries and chocolate are aphrodisiacs, so why not pair these with natural peanut butter or chocolate spread, like Mayver’s Hazelnut, Cashew & Cacao spread, if it’s one of your partner’s favourite foods,” says Susie.
“Mayver’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Brownie recipe is a delicious treat that will be sure to woo your Valentine, while still gaining the health benefits of containing a 100% natural peanut butter.”
“By including a 100% natural peanut butter in your recipes, you lower the risk of over-indulging as the protein will help to keep you fuller for longer and and in terms of taste, peanut butter has a great way of balancing out sweetness.”
For Susie, Valentine’s Day is not only an opportunity to make her husband feel special, but the whole family too!
“Valentine’s Day isn’t just for your partner, it’s important to share the love around, as your friends, family and children deserve to share in the love as well! This year, our family will be spending quality time together, making our own pizza and yummy homemade desserts and sharing the love around.
28 founder and Mayver’s ambassador, Sam Wood, has also created a delicious yet nutritious recipe to charm your Valentine, a Rose, Chocolate and Peanut Butter Mousse Tart topped with rose petals.
