Bananacue – Philippines’ Best Native Dessert

Considered as one of the all-time best selling staple street desserts, this is also mostly consumed and enjoyed as a mid-afternoon dessert by Filipino households. They call it “Bananacue” or commonly known in other countries as Sweet Asian plantains coated with caramelized brown sugar on bamboo skewers are so easy to make and so delicious.

With only 3 ingredients and 6 simple steps, in just about 15 minutes, you’re done!  Partner up this delectable treat with a refreshing soda and share with your friends!

Ingredients
 1 large bunch / 15-20 pcs. of saba bananas (Sweet Asian Plantains)
 1 cup brown sugar
 Oil for frying
 2 tbsp sesame seeds
Equipment
 Cooking pan
 Measuring cup
 20 pcs. skewers
 Strainer
 Paper towels
 Tong
 Stainless steel cooking spoon
 Plate

Cooking Directions

In a cooking pan, pour and heat oil over medium low fire.

Gently add brown sugar and stir until the sugar starts to caramelize.

Place together the bananas and stir-fry them until they are fairly coated and deep golden in color.

With a tong, transfer on paper towels to drain excess oils. Another option is to pour them directly onto a strainer and let the oils drip.

While the plantains are still hot, put them on a plate and sprinkle with some sesame seeds.

Skewer at least 2 pieces of fried bananas and serve.
