Califia Farms launches three new plant milks locally
Got plant milk? We certainly do. More Australians than ever before are opting for milk alternatives, with one in six Aussies now 100% dairy-free, while sales for plant-based milk continue to skyrocket as more eco-conscious and health-driven consumers look for new choices.
Rising to the demand, Califia Farms is launching three delicious and nutritious new plant milk in Australia that are sure to become staples in kitchens around the country soon – Original Oat Milk, Vanilla Oat Milk and Unsweetened Almond Barista Blend.
Rebecca Gawthorne, Sydney dietitian and nutritionist, welcomes more dairy-free options, especially when they don’t compromise on nutrition or taste.
“A lot of people worry that replacing dairy milk with plant-based alternatives will mean they’re not getting key nutrients, but it’s not the case if you choose wisely. Califia’s new plant milks are not only delicious, but all have no sugar added, and are fortified with an excellent source of calcium and Vitamin D. Plus oat milk is a source of dietary fibre which is important for gut health,” says Rebecca.
Currently over half the Australian population consume inadequate calcium with 73% of women not meeting their calcium needs, while 23% of Aussies have a Vitamin D deficiency.
“Our new almond and oat milks are a really simple way that people can increase their calcium and Vitamin D intake. For example, per serve our Original Oat Milk has over 30% of your daily calcium needs and 18% of your recommended Vitamin D,” says Henry Catts, Califia Farms General Manager of Sales Australia.
With home coffee consumption increasing by 37% since covid-19, more Aussies are also looking for quality choices when it comes to their daily brew.
“Califia’s Unsweetened Almond Barista Blend has a whopping 58% of your daily calcium needs and has an extremely low amount of natural sugar for a barista almond milk. It’s easy to steam and froth so is perfect for the at-home barista as a partner to our super popular Oat Barista Blend which is served in over 6,000 cafés nationally,” Henry adds.
And don’t forget about the other plant perks too!
“Plant milks also have the bonus of being cholesterol-free, low fat, and are more sustainable than dairy,” says Rebecca. “I love using Califia’s plant milks in coffee, smoothies, on muesli, baking and anywhere else you’d normally use cow’s milk. Their new Unsweetened Almond Barista Blend is especially great for coeliacs while the oat milks have a creamy mouthfeel similar to dairy. The Vanilla Oat is also delicious for something a little different that the whole family will love!”
Califia Farms’ new Original Oat Milk, Vanilla Oat Milk and Almond Barista Blend will be available exclusively at Woolworths nationally in the long-life milk aisle. They join Califia’s extremely popular Oat Barista Blend which can also be found in independent supermarkets and at Woolworths where it is the fastest-selling premium oat milk in the long-life milk aisle. Oat Barista is also one of the leading barista oat milks in Australia served in over 6,000 cafes.
