There is nothing more satisfying than biting into a tender, moist but flaky and chewy croissant. This delectable baked good is so delicious, it has earned its own special day of the year – World Croissant day – this Sunday, January 30th!

To celebrate World Croissant day this Sunday, we thought Best Desserts readers would be interested in National Culinary Manager at Appliances Online, Chloe Skipp’s ‘Cheats Hazelnut & Chocolate Croissant’ recipe. It’s buttery and soft, filled with delicious hazelnut spread, crunchy hazelnuts and irresistible dark chocolate.

For the passionate home cook or even the kitchen newbie, this mouthwatering recipe will be their easy go-to pastry.

 6 plain croissants
 1 cup hazelnut spread
 ¾ (20g) cup rice bubbles
 Pinch salt
 ½ (130g) cup roasted hazelnuts, roughly chopped
 1/2 (100g) cup dark chocolate

Preheat the oven on 160°C fan-forced, line an oven tray with baking paper.

In a small bowl, mix hazelnut spread, rice bubbles, salt and half of the hazelnuts.

Cut croissants ¾ through horizontally, and spread with 1-2 tbsp of hazelnut mixture.

Place on a prepared baking tray, and place in the oven for 10 minutes to warm slightly.

While the croissant is in the oven, place chocolate into a small saucepan on the induction cooktop, level 1 to melt.

To assemble, drizzle chocolate over the croissants and sprinkle with remaining hazelnuts.
