Halloween Hot Dog Mummies

Halloween Hot Dog Mummies

As we near the end of October, many people make the most of the warmer weather and the spooky season by having more BBQs with friends and family.

What better way to celebrate than incorporating Halloween-themed recipes into your BBQ?

Ooni has come up with three delicious and easy (easy enough that you can get your kids to help!) recipes that add a twist to those BBQ recipes. I have attached these in the word document.

Puff pastry-wrapped Halloween Hot Dog Mummies with edible eyes are a terrific way to involve youngsters in planning a Halloween celebration. To make sure the process is enjoyable and hassle-free, use store-bought ingredients.

We adore these as a treat after trick-or-treating or as the finishing touch to a spread for a Halloween party. These are so simple to make that you could prepare them while still wearing your costume, even if you’re exhausted from going door to door collecting candy.

Prep Time15 minsCook Time15 minsTotal Time30 mins

Ingredients:
 1 package puff pastry
8 hot dogs (or pre-cooked sausages)
 16 edible googly eyes

Method:
1

Preheat your oven to 290°C (550°F). Open your puff pastry and cut or tear into 1/2 centimetre thick strips lengthwise.

2

Wrap strips around hot dogs, mimicking the cloth bandages on a mummy. The more irregular, the better!

3

Place wrapped hot dogs on a lined baking sheet — we used a nonstick baking mat, but parchment paper also works well — and bake until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Turn once for an even bake.

4

Remove from the oven using a pizza peel or heat-resistant gloves. Once slightly cool, top with edible googly eyes.

5

Serve along with your favourite dipping sauces! We love the classics and serve these with ketchup and mustard.
