Prep Time10 minsCook Time20 minsTotal Time30 mins
For the homemade chai spice:
 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
 1 tbsp ground cardamom
 ½ tbsp ground ginger
 ½ tbsp ground nutmeg
 ½ tbsp ground allspice
 ½ tsp ground clove
For the smoothie:
2 Packham or bosc pears, cut into 6ths or 8ths, core removed
 3 tbsp maple syrup
 1 tbsp coconut oil
 ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
 1 ½ tbsp chai spice
1 liter Califia Farms Vanilla Oat Milk
 Zest 1 orange or mandarin
 1/3 cup toasted macadamia, crushed
Method:
1

First, make the chai spice mix by combining the ingredients well and store in a jar–makes extra so use it for a delicious chai latte with more Califia Farms Vanilla Oat Milk later on.

2

Place a medium frying pan over a medium/high then add the coconut oil, 2 tbsp of maple and the pears.

3

Cook, tossing gently until they begin to caramelise then add the cinnamon and toss through. You’re looking for softened pears slices and deep golden caramel. Transfer to a plate.

4

Combine the oats, 1 ½ tbsp of chai spices, remaining 1 tbsp maple syrup and ¾ of the Vanilla Oat Milk in a medium saucepan and cook over medium/high heat, stirring often for 5 minutes.

5

Gradually add more milk as it cooks to create a creamy consistency of the oats. This
will take about 15 minutes and you don’t want it too stiff. You can add a little water if needed.

6

Serve the oats topped with caramelised pears, and caramel sauce and crushed macadamia nuts. Dive in and enjoy the day!
